For ideas on how you can prepare yourself, your family, your home, and your community for disaster, visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Ready.gov site at
http://www.ready.gov for more disaster planning resources.
Some suggestions for what you can do noongom to get ready:
- Call your insurance agent to check on your disaster coverage.
- Check and or replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Determine the best fire escape routes from each room of your home.
- Get a flu shot.
- Prepare a home first-aid kit.
- Start an emergency savings account.
Disasters happen in life, but, with a little preparation during good times, you can help yourself and others through difficult times.
